Author: Energy seems to dictate much of our lives. We need it to see by, to cook with, to be warm or cool down, and generally, to live a full life. This generation has no idea how past generations lived without it. Of course, their lives were much simpler in many ways. Those were the days when life cost less. Electricity used to be much cheaper, but times have changed and overall costs keep rising. Their is another solution to fulfill this need for electricity. You can join with many others as they seek to spend less money monthly on bills. You too can build your own solar panels.
You can build your own solar panels cheap. By utilizing these in your home, it is possible that you will generate more power than you actually use which means that the local power company will pay you for the excess. Doesn’t this sound good considering the amount of your bill every month? In order to build your own, you need some simple items.
First, in order to build your own solar panels, you need a solar panel that is 12 to 16 volts. Then you need a small, rechargeable battery and a batter box. After these essential items, you need a DC meter that has the same voltage as the battery and you also need a DC input. Theses items allow you to take the power from the solar panel and convert it to be utilized in and around your home through various power sources. If you are planning to power to power AC appliances, you will also need an inverter.
Those are the necessary items required to be able to build your own solar panels. Once you have these, you are ready to begin the actual building process. You will need a hand held drill to attach the DC meter and the DC input to the top end of the battery box. Use insulated wire to connect the meter to the battery itself. You do need to be careful when doing this and only connect one wire at a time. Then you also need to connect the DC inlet and the solar panel to the battery itself.
Now, you are ready to place the unit outside in the sun. After 8 hours, try out your handy work.

The first step is to look at the different kind of solar panels. The most common solar panel is the regular flat panel. These solar panels are, just like the name says, flat. They are covered with a dark plate. These solar panels are used to heat water. Another kind of solar panel is the kind that actually converts the solar radiation from the sun into electricity right away. The electricity that the solar radiation is converted into can be either used right away or it can be stored for later use. The kind, size, and the number of solar panels will depend on your energy costs and residential solar power goals.
If you can get away with installing your solar panels for your residential solar power yourself, then you will decrease the cost of your installation. Solar panels are often mounted on three different kinds of mounts. Flush Mounts, roof-ground mounts, and pole mounts are three different kinds of mounts that you can use. When installing these solar panels make sure that you are installing them in an area where they will receive a lot of sunlight on a daily basis.
